Bamberg's cathedral precinct, river crossings and brewing places represent different parts of a visit. The cathedral, treasury, Alte Hofhaltung and Neue Residenz entries help distinguish neighbouring historic buildings from the collections or interiors within them. Do not assume that stopping in a courtyard amounts to the same visit as entering a museum or residence.
The Old Town Hall and Klein Venedig bring the route back toward the water, while the Michaelsberg guide introduces a separate destination. If brewing history is your main interest, compare the brewery museum, Schlenkerla and the beer-cellar walk rather than choosing only from their familiar names. Each suggests a different balance of interpretation, walking and time at a table.
Basilica and monastery excursions, including Vierzehnheiligen and Kloster Banz, need their own place in the schedule. Read their access details before adding them to a day already devoted to Bamberg's central sights and museum visits.
